Diversionary Tactic

Okay okay, I know I'm supposed to post some pictures up. But I haven't gotten them yet.

So I guess I'll post up a quick note.

My Gateway laptop is seriously annoying me. I must've mentioned somewhere here before that it hangs on me somewhat often. But what you don't know is that it freezes on me almost EVERY time I watch something on YouTube! It's really, really, really really annoying.

So much so that if I stopped watching YouTube altogether (zomg, THE HORROR!), I would probably be able to live with the significantly decreased number of comp hanging on me moments.

Also... I still haven't come up with a blog title yet. What the hell? Did inspiration get pregnant out of wedlock and left town in shame or something? Where is it???

Birthday! !!UPDATED!!

So I had my birthday bbq and post-bbq gathering at my place on Saturday evening.

It was absolutely AWESOMEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Okay well, actually it started off really slow. Everyone seemed a bit lethargic and bored when we were trying to get the fire started. For some reason, our charcoal briquets took FOREVER to burn. So yea.

I have to say though, the barbeque itself was pretty sedate. Yea we were eating and laughing and joking around, but the general atmosphere was pretty calm. I have no idea why. Some people seemed bored sometimes too; I feel really bad about that, but oh well.

The food was good, and so was the company. Most of the people I invited turned up, so yay for that! Emi brought a cake she made, which was really sweet of her. So I had two cakes, haha. Emi's strawberry cake, and the Snickers cake my brother and Faye got for me. So they sang happy birthday twice wtf. Haha. I loved it though.

Well, sometime later, it started becoming way too chilly to hang around outside, so those who had stayed decided to retreat to the apartment. Which is when things got slightly crazy.

So we played truth or dare without the truth. So it was pretty much assumed that only dares were allowed. Hohoho. Weeeell.. I probably shouldn't write about all the scandalous details here. If you want to know, ask me personally :P We did pretty gross and disturbing stuff. I was scarred for life, sadly while laughing away. e.g. I was supposed to give a lap dance but laughed so hard that I fell off. Sigh. And that was one of the 'normal' stuff.

But after awhile we did calm down a little, and started just talking about stuff. Things did get serious here. Most of the people, myself included, offered pretty serious stuff about ourselves. I have to say, despite the somber tone of this part of the gathering, it was the part I appreciated most.

So my birthday presents include:
Barnes & Noble gift cards.
Borders gift card.
Barnes & Noble membership card
a gummy (edible) male thong, which has been mostly consumed... only the triangle part is left.
condom-like decorations which everyone pretty much destroyed last night since everyone played with them so much
a new Wii controller since one of ours stopped working!!!
Amy Winehouse cd
PLUS a Sephora.com gift card from Li Sze!

:D I'm a happy boy.

!!UPDATE!!

Pictures! (including my most embarrassing one at the end........ yes I actually uploaded it for you people, because I like you all, so be grateful!!!)

AMAZING day!

So it's 3 am on Sunday now... the night of my barbeque. It was absolutely amazing! Well, the barbequing part was fun but a bit sedate... things only got a bit crazy afterwards. Had so much fun. Super tired now, and I need to shower because I smell like smoke. I love my friends, haha. Will post more later!

Kai Xin

So I am now two decades old. Sigh.

Yeah I know I have to update, so here it goes.

First of all, I'd like thank everyone who wished me happy birthday or something similar. I really appreciate it! This year's birthday seems to be gearing up to be a pretty good one. Although I would have preferred to be in Malaysia for my birthday... well, I guess now is a good time to solidify my friendship with people here.

Today itself has been pretty low-key. Woke up super late for lunch with Nico and the posse. Loitered around at home for the rest of the day since I didn't have classes. Just got back from McDs with my brother and Faye.

Tomorrow and Saturday will be more exciting. Haha it's like I'm having a three-day celebration. Sheila's supposed to come over tomorrow to cook an Indian dinner as my birthday present! Bwaha. Then some of the posse will be stopping by to hang around with Nico and me while we prepare stuff for the barbeque. I have no idea why Firefox considers 'barbeque' to be a typo. Wtf. Just checked Merriam-Webster online - it's a valid word! Sigh. And I don't want to use barbecue.

So anyway, I'll be having a large-ish bbq on Saturday! Yay! Around 20 people are supposed to come, so yeah. Nico's been super stressed about the planning. I've asked him to relax a bit - I mean, it's a bbq... supposed to be casual and relaxing - but he's still super stressed. Oh well. RELAX A BIT NICO! I know I'm not quite a super organized strategist... I always get things done at the last minute. But I still get things done, so yeah. But I really appreciate how helpful Nico and the others are/will be regarding me bbq, so thank you people! Nico don't die of stress!!

So um, yea. Nico and Lexy (his girlfriend) got me a Barnes & Noble membership for my birthday! Hahahah... and it's supposed to be his annual birthday present to me now.. he'll just pay for the yearly renewal fee from now on -_- But WHOOHOO! Thank you! Now I can get... er.. I think 10% off for every purchase I make there. Wtf how am I supposed to cut down on my book purchases now. Gah.

Also, everyone's been asking me what I want for my birthday. Sigh. Please get creative, people! Well... I did answer (jokingly) once that I want a sparkly thong with sequins. So um yeah. If I do get that.... sigh. Haha. It'll be funny as hell.. but sigh. At least June scrapped the stripper idea.

Er. Suddenly don't feel like writing anymore. I guess I'll post another update soon - tomorrow, maybe.

My thoughts are all over right now. Even my writing seems, well, all over. Adoi. I guess I need sleep, bai!

ps: Again, to everyone; thank you for the birthday wishes! :)

Finally, the Update!

Aren't you excited!? This post is way overdue. I'm sorry, I've been busy. Or sleepy. Sleepy even when I'm not busy.

My life back here in Missoula, I think, hasn't been progressing too well so far. I am taking four courses this semester, and three of them are extremely work-intensive. I was originally planning to take five instead, but I had to drop the last one because I don't think I would have been able to cope with the workload. Well, I probably would still get my work done, but I do NOT want my GPA to drop, not even by 0.01 okay!! Maintenance or improvement of my GPA is an absolutely MANDATORY goal! I think I'll be a lot busier this semester compared to my previous one. I am NOT looking forward to the rest of this semester.

My schedule is a bit wonky, I would say. I have two morning/afternoon classes on Monday and Friday, the same thing + one lab/seminar session on Wednesday, evening classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, and no classes on Thursday. Weird, huh? The evening classes are pretty torturous for two reasons:
1) They're around dinnertime. I get hungry.
2) One is 2 hours 50 minutes long, while the other comes close at 2 hours and 20 minutes.
On the bright side, I only have those once a week.

My classes:
COMM 460 (+COMM 461): Communication Research Methods with lab/seminar session
COMM 422 : Communication and Technology
HHP 486: Statistical Procedures in Education (a glorified term for statistics class)
COMM 230: Organizational Communication

COMM 460 is very work intensive. We have a few exams in addition to one large group research project. We're already working on the early stuff for the research project, and it's only week two. We have to submit bits and pieces of our research over a period of time spanning the entire semester, with the final submission of the completed study being at the end of the semester, AND we have to give a presentation on our study. Sigh. Oh and the lecturer here is nice, serious, and knowledgable, but sometimes sleep inducing...

COMM 422 is also a potential nightmare. It's an upper division writing course, which means NO EXAMS. Our entire grade will be from two research papers, attendance/participation, and a group project. Wtf I hate group projects. The group project is doubly annoying because our lecturer wants us to work with an organization to study their communication practices in regards to the use of technology. Furthermore, he wants us to ideally be able to suggest how their communication techniques can be improved. The professor teaching this class seems like a pretty cool person - I may have misjudged him at first. But I later realized that the course content was quite interesting, and he was really passionate about it as well. So while I might enjoy the in-class sessions, the assignments/projects are a bit intimidating.

HHP 486 won't be TOO hard, but there's a lot of work involved. Since it's a statistics class, it's all about the collection, organization, and analysis of data. In extreme amounts. I'm told that the final exam takes about four hours to complete. While our lecturer is awesome and extremely funny, he does give a lot of work. Since the class is only once a week, he'll give us weekly assignments, in addition to two research projects.

COMM 230 is a rather 'normal' class. Four exams and one short assignment, and that's it. There's not much to say about it, really. The lecturer is really nice and friendly; she seems to have a perpetual smile on her face.

So yea, those are my classes this semester.

Hm. What else...

Well, I'm trying to be a bit more social this semester. I was WAY too antisocial last semester. So far I've met a few new people - I can't really call them friends yet, but hey at least I know some new people. Mostly I'm just trying to work harder to hang out with my current friends more often. :P Not like it's hard work or anything. ;) So I went to the International Student Association welcome party for new and returning international students. It was fun. Met a few new people, laughed and talked a lot, ate very little because there wasn't enough food, and more. I had a great time there... despite the lack of food.

Oh and I watched Balls of Fury and Halloween a few days ago. Balls of Fury was mildly funny; it was pretty disappointing. The trailer did a good job in making it seem better than it really is. Oh well. Halloween was, uh, quite funny actually. It wasn't really scary. I enjoyed it for its comedic value.

Somehow it feels like things are picking up here as well. The first home football match of the season at my uni was last weekend - wanted to go to that, but I didn't get the tickets in time. So I'm going for the one that's on this Saturday. I'm not usually into sports, but I feel like I should just go - school pride and all. Hey, if I don't enjoy it, I don't have to go again. I can at least say I went once. But yea, people have been telling me that even if you don't like football, you'll get caught up in school spirit and stuff during the football matches. We'll see.

I know it's a bit too early for it, but I've already been planning my upcoming birthday activities, haha. Nothing too fancy or anything though :P It'll probably just be a barbecue at one of the barbecue pits at my apartment area. 20 people at the most (I HOPE). Anything more, uh, would be kinda tough. It's funny how I always get obsessed with my own birthday plans. This boy ain't gonna get caught by any surprise party y'all! I ALWAYS plan my own birthday event, even if it's only a boring dinner. Oh and I'm probably not gonna do it on my birthday itself - will probably wait till the weekend, since some of my friends have evening classes on the day itself. So yeah. Also, people will be stressed out from studies and work. :P So the weekend it is!

On a more personal front, I'm a bit unhappy at the moment. Not really emo or depressed, just a general state of not being happy. I would use my frequently used word, 'limbo', but I don't think it's the right word to use right now. I know what is going on with myself right now; I'm just not too happy with how it's going. Not that my life is depressing or tragic right now. There are just things I need to deal with internally, as usual. Same problems, different context.

Okay, kinda tired now. Would ramble more, but I am seriously dazed since I only had 4 hours of sleep last night and 3 hours of sleep the previous night. I did not get to nap in the past two days. So yeah. And I went to the gym today, even if it was only for 30 minutes. It was my first time going in awhile okay :P So I wanted to take it easy. Well, that and I had to rush home to shower and go back to campus for my evening class. So there.

I guess that's all for now. Goodnight!

Dud

Not a real 'update'. Sigh.

Sorry, only had 3 hours of sleep last night, didn't get any sleep during the day, and now it's just about 2:45 am. I have to wake up by 8 am - preferably earlier - to get to class on time. I just finished doing some research from my COMM 460 class. Sigh. And read the case study we're discussing in COMM 230, which is in about 6 and a half hours from now.

I have classes from 9:10-11am and 12:10-1pm on Wednesday(today), and another one from 5:10-7:30pm. And Gene is bugging me about going to gym -_- So I might do that from 2-3pm, then go home and shower, and return to campus for stupid evening class.

On the amazingly bright side, I don't have classes on Thursday. So hopefully I can recharge then and, hopefully, post a proper update.

So please be patient okay. Sorry :(
